Celebrating Obour Live? Concert Coming

Ghana’s hiplife star Obour will put up a live concert on August 6 to celebrate his success in the field of music and also to thank his fans for staying close to him through the years.

“The event is to make the public appreciate Obour from his birth, growth, education through his music career and also thank his fans, sponsors and general public for their contribution towards the remarkable success of his third album,” the organisers said.

The concert, which has been dubbed “Celebrating Obour Live” is scheduled to take place at the International Conference Centre, Accra and will be backed by a nine-piece band. Obour will perform all of his compositions from the debut album to the latest.

Known for his often bizarre and scary appearances on stage, Obour is poised to re-enact the images that came with his various albums. “His ninety minutes on stage will be packed with drama, real entertainment, suspense and thrills from the opening act to the gripping climax,” an official of Family Tree noted.

With only three albums to his credit the musician known officially as Bice Osei Kuffuor perhaps has more awards to his name than a lot of musicians have in their life-time. He thus has a good reason to celebrate.

His first album Atentenben won three awards at the 2002 Ghana Music Awards and one at the Our Music Awards the same year, Nana Obour a song from Dondo, his second album, won one award each at the 2003 Ghana Music Awards and Ghana Music Awards UK respectively whiles his third album Obour.com - Atumpan won five awards at the 2005 Ghana Music Awards.

Billed to perform at “Celebrating Obour Live” are some of the leading Ghanaian musicians including, Nksei, Mzbel, Noble Nketsiah, Castro, K.K. Fosu, Batman, Tic Tac, Buk Bak, VIP, Reggie Rockstone, Daasebre Gyamenah, Amandzeba Nat Brew and Ofori Amponsah.
