Chief, 49 enrols in Primary School

Nsesreso (B/A) Feb. 2, GNA - Nana Brafo Ababio, 49, Chief of Nsesreso in Dormaa District of Brong Ahafo Region, in pursuance of his dream of acquiring formal education has enrolled at the Roman Catholic Primary school in the town.

He was accompanied to the school by some of his elders and placed in Primary Four and immediately started classes. Nana Ababio, who has been on the throne for 14 years, told Ghana News Agency: "since we are in a global village, there is the urgent need

for any ruler to become abreast with current events so he or she can offer good governance to the subjects". The chief said although his school and classmates held him in high esteem, as well as the teachers and the people, he was not in the least perturbed. He urged the school authorities to enforce the school's rules and regulations and punish any pupil, including himself, who acted against them.

Nana Ababio expressed his profound gratitude to the government for the capitation grant and national health insurance schemes, "which seek the perfect welfare of all citizens".

He appealed to the Dormaa District Assembly to renovate the school and embark on an intensive education drive to educate the people, particularly the illiterates, to take advantage of the capitation grant and enrol in schools or in the non-formal education programme. Nana Ababio, who has six children and now in the same class with his last born child, has a wife, Mrs. Beatrice Misaa, who is a teacher at the Roman Catholic Kindergarten.

Mr. Nsiah Asare, Assembly Member for the area, said he was optimistic the chief would receive the needed support from the Assembly.
