Citi FM to present George Darko the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ at MOGO 2013

Citi FM has announced that this year a special ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ will be given to Burger Highlife pioneer George Darko for his outstanding contribution to the music industry. The award presentation will take place during the MOGO concert on Friday.

George Darko’s music pushed the highlife revolution and gave it an international appeal. His contribution ensured Burger Highlife became a worldwide trend. His exploits redefined Ghanaian music and his pedigree is unmatched by many in the industry.

George Darko, the Tufuhene of Akropong Akuapem, has entertained and edified the world with his music. This year’s MOGO will immortalize him and his music, among which is ‘Ako Te Brofo’. He contributed to authentic Ghanaian music over the decades.

Previously, the award ceremony was held a day after the concert. However, this year’s event shall have the award presented during the concert in a bid to give the recipient and patrons an unforgettable night of honour and bliss.

Previous winners include C.K. Mann, Nana Kwame Ampadu, Faisal Helwani, Zapp Mallet, Jerry Hanson and Ebo Taylor.

This year’s MOGO, the 8th in the series, shall have performances from Awurama Badu, K.K. Fosu, Kwaisey Pee, Tagoe Sisters, Okyeame Kwame, Sherifa Gunu, Samuel Owusu and the Ohia B

Ghana’s foremost highlife concert, set to thrill patrons, comes off this Friday at the National theatre.
