Citizen Kofi Comedy Show starts on a good note

The new effort by Citizen Kofi Entertainment to revive comedy in Ghana by providing a platform for young and established talents kicked off on a high last week, November 4, with a fine selection of comic performances from a group of comedians known as Laugh Out Loud.

The show lived up to its tagline, “If you thought there were no comedians in Ghana, you must be joking”, when patrons were held in stitches by the humour from the likes of David Oscar, Funny Face, DKB, Percy, David Aglah, Nii Yartey Foster, James Brown, Phyllis, as well as spoken words by Yom among others.

Citizen Kofi Entertainment also used the night to honour seasoned standup acts like Kwaku Sintim-Misa (KSM), Tommy Annan Forson and Fritz Baffour (now a Member of Parliament) for their contribution to comedy and the entertainment industry as a whole. KSM couldn’t make it to the event due to other engagements but his compatriots were available not only to receive their honouring but also took to the stage to proof they still had it in them to get people laughing.

In an interview with Dr Kofi Amoah, CEO of Citizen Kofi, he commented that he is still working on getting American comedians like Chris Rock, Cedric The Entertainer and others to be a part of ‘The Comedy Show’ in order to spice it up and also to provide a good point of reference for the Ghanaian comedians. He also hinted that there are further plans to beam The Comedy Show live on TV, and to syndicate it across the globe.
