Eyebrows have raised and questions asked about the origin of one of the costumes worn by Ghana's representative at the just-ended Miss Universe 2014 event held over the weekend.
Miss Abena Appiah was dressed in a costume that looks similar to the one worn by Southern African ladies.
The huge necklace and long red and gold headgear, according to observers, do not represent the Ghanaian culture. With the exception of a little kente cloth sewn in her dress and red, yellow and green wrist bands she wore, one would think she is from one of the southern African countries.
Meanwhile, Miss Colombia Paulina Vega, was crowned Miss Universe, beating first runner-up Miss USA Nia Sanchez and contestants from more than 80 other countries at Sunday's pageant in Miami.
