Easter Sunday was climaxed with a melodious showcase of gospel music which brought together contemporary Ghanaian gospel artistes and choirs to thrill lovers of the genre as they celebrate the resurrection of Christ.
Boadiwaa, Cece Twum, Ernest Opoku, K-Bee, OJ, Cecelia Marfo and Miriam Afari of MTN Hitmaker fame captivated the slowly filled auditorium of the Accra International Conference Centre for the second edition of the MTN Choral Fest, a gospel concert to celebrate Easter.
Largely clad in white attire, the audience was served worship songs by the featured artistes which slowly built-up to praise songs eliciting rhythmic movements from the audience who were mostly younger people.
Performances starting from Miriam and Boadiwaa to OJ were dazzling with the complement of the colorfully-lit stage and an array of musical instruments which hit every note precisely for both the Ghanaian and foreign gospel songs performed including the Reggae versions especially from K-Bee.
The choirs which comprised the Dansoman Youth Choir, Harmonious Chorale, Winneba Youth Choir, Olivet Voices and M Praise delivered convincingly with a display of perfectly harmonised songs complemented by their matching clothes and professional coordination by the conductors.
With originally composed songs and renditions of both Ghanaian and foreign gospel songs, the choirs proved that it’s about time music producers invest in them as the rousing applause from the audience said it all.
The organisers of the Concert, MTN Ghana, created a social media trend for the show with the hashtag, #MTNCHORALFEST. It trended on twitter while tweets from the audience were displayed on large screens in the auditorium. A special Whatsapp number was also displayed for the audience to share selfies at the event.
Emmanuel Mingle, who witnessed the show expressed excitement via twitter: “What can we say to MTN for organising such a spirit lifting program? God bless MTN greatly.” Also, Freeman, who used the same medium, tweeted: “Can’t help it, am really having fun, Christ is indeed risen, yeeee!!!!”
