Corporate entities should sign comedians as ambassadors - DKB

Comedian Derick kobina Bonney (DKB) has called on corporate entities to offer their sponsorship and support to Ghanaian comedians by signing them on as ambassadors.

According to him, lately a lot of hard work has been invested into the Ghanaian comedy industry and it’s steadily coming alive.

“The talent in the creative industry can’t really survive well if the corporate world doesn’t come in,” he noted.

The comedian was of the view that considering the steady growth of Ghanaian comedy, “it’s time for the corporate entities to sign on comedians and to invest in comedy.”

DKB made the comments during an interview with Black I on Daybreak Hitz (Showbiz Review) on Hitz FM.

Corporate bodies, particularly telecommunication companies, have over the years signed some musicians and movie makers as ambassadors. Unfortunately no comedian has been signed as an ambassador.

DKB, who has emceed the Television Awards Ghana two conservative times, has received several compliments from patrons and entertainment critics.

He held the view that, “comedy has to do with addressing so many people, so if you sign me as an ambassador and I do one or two Live Presenter Mentions (LPMs) or endorsement for you that is huge impressions across the country.”

“Comedy has a way of attacking your competitors and getting your controversial message across easier than music,” DKB added.
