He never hid his admiration for Ebony Reigns when she lived and even though he is yet to come to terms with her demise, Countryman Songo gathered courage and performed ‘Sponsor’, one of the hit songs of the dancehall diva at her one week memorial.

In what appeared to be a funfair, a section of the mammoth crowd who had converged at the St. Martin De Porres School, Sunday, February 18, 2018 for the event sang along amidst dance gestures.

'Sponsor' described by many as one of the best songs released in 2017 addresses the financial challenges of young ladies which force them to date older men.

It touches on how a rich old man takes good care of a young lady but is unable to satisfy her in bed - a situation which compels her to run to a young man for sexual satisfaction despite being poor.

The week observation saw ministers of state and other political figures, ministers of the gospel, bigwigs in the Ghanaian entertainment industry, sympathizers, fans and friends of the late artiste in attendance.

Ebony, known in real life as Priscilla Opoku Kwarteng, died in a gory accident on the Sunyani-Kumasi highway – a few days before she was scheduled to start a European tour.

Her death led to a huge outpouring of grief and sympathies from music lovers, fans, colleagues, friends and politicians here in Ghana.

Meanwhile, Ebony’s family has announced that their beloved will be buried on March 17, 2018. Venue for the event, according to the family will be announced later.
