The Aloba family has been granted permission for a second autopsy on Mohbad following initial dissatisfaction with the findings.

The family of the late Nigerian singer, grieving the loss of their son has secured court authorization to conduct a second autopsy. This decision follows their dissatisfaction with the initial autopsy conducted by the Lagos State Government.

Mohbad, a Nigerian rapper, tragically passed away in September 2023 after being diagnosed with an "ear infection" by an unlicensed nurse who has since been arrested.

The initial autopsy, performed by the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) following the exhumation of Mohbad's body on September 21, 2023, failed to ascertain the cause of death. It cited decomposition and potential reactions to medications as findings.

Unsatisfied with these results, the Aloba family rejected the autopsy report and sought confirmation from the Lagos State Government regarding its authenticity, especially since there were discussions of an autopsy in the United States.

Granting of Second Autopsy

Subsequently, the family has been granted court approval to proceed with an independent, private autopsy. Mohbad's father, Joseph Aloba, expressed gratitude to the judiciary for this decision, stating, "We appreciate the court's intervention in our quest to uncover the truth behind Mohbad's death. The exhumation was necessary for the authorities to determine the cause of his demise."

Legal Representation

Grace Shorinde, the family's legal representative, stressed the urgency of obtaining the results before August 7th, the scheduled conclusion of the coroner's inquest. She emphasized, "The results of the second autopsy must be available by August 7th. This is crucial as it coincides with the coroner's inquest deadline."

Human Rights Perspective

Rotimi Adigun from the Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice affirmed their commitment to seeking justice in Mohbad's case, stating, "We are prepared to support the Aloba family in their pursuit of justice. Our organization is engaged in plans to ensure timely resolution of this matter."

Lawyer David Wonuola highlighted the significance of the court's decision to allow the recording of witness statements, noting, "The evidence from the autopsy report and witness testimonies will play a pivotal role in achieving justice."

As the world awaits the outcome of the second autopsy, hopes are high for conclusive answers regarding the circumstances surrounding Mohbad's untimely passing.
