Mankranso (Ash), Feb. 19, GNA - A magistrate's court at Mankranso on Tuesday, granted a 19-year old apprentice five million cedis bail for stabbing a farmer.
Kwame Frimpong pleaded guilty and will re-appear on March 2. Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector David Konlan told the court that on January 31, this year at about 22 hours, the accused and John Boateng, a farmer at Adadekrom attended a wake keeping at one Opanin Yaw Boateng's house.
He said at the wake keeping, the accused requested a song to be played for him and paid 2,000 cedis but the disc jockey operating the sound system refused to play the song, so he demanded the refund of his money.
Chief Inspector Konlan said the disc jockey refused to return the 2,000 cedis and a misunderstanding ensued
He said Boateng tried to intervene and asked the accused to stop the quarrel but the accused did not heed the advice and the quarrel degenerating into a fight during which the accused pulled out a knife from his pocket and stabbed Boateng on the right hand.
The prosecutor said some Unit Committee members who were on the scene arrested Frimpong and handed him over to the Mpasaso police while Boateng was sent to the Mankranso Government Hospital for medical attention.
