Court jails 21-year-old truck pusher five years for stealing

Wa, July 15, GNA- A Circuit court at Wa on Tuesday sentenced a 21-year-old porter at the Wa main lorry station to five years imprisonment for stealing foot wear valued at eight million cedis. Fuseini Salifu pleaded guilty.

Police Inspector Joseph Noble Mantey, told the court that the accused was a member of a group of loading boys and truck pushers operating at the Wa main lorry station.

On June 11, the complainant, Madam Kutum Alhassan, a trader at Wa, arrived at the station on board a Neoplan bus with three sacks of ladies and gents slippers and canvas shoes.

The conductor discharged sacks but when the complainant went to collect the items she found that one was missing.

Inspector Mantey said one week after the incident, while the complainant was on her way to town, she met a woman holding a pair of the slippers that she identified to be hers.
