Sunyani, Aug. 24, GNA - The Sunyani Magistrate court on Friday sentenced Addo Bulley, a 22 year old sign writer to three years imprisonment in hard labour for stealing a motor bike. Bulley, an ex-convict, pleaded guilty to the charge of stealing and was convicted accordingly.
The accused after the sentence said he had regretted the act, saying he did it because he badly needed money to establish his business. He therefore pleaded for forgiveness.
The court ordered that the motorbike be given back to the owner. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Alex Yartey Tawiah, prosecutor, told the court that, whilst the complainant in the case, Mr Samuel Kofi Ankrah, a teacher, lived at Meredane, the accused was resident at Newtown, both in Sunyani.
He said at about 2130 hours on August 13 last year, Mr Ankrah parked his motorbike in front of a church building to attend a church service but could not find it after the service.
ASP Tawiah said Mr Ankrah quickly reported to a local FM station for n announcement about the missing bike to be made and later reported to the police.
A witness in the case, who saw the accused with the motorbike at Nana Bosomah market in Sunyani reported to the police, who subsequently arrested him at a hideout. He admitted the offence upon interrogation. Mr Ankrah later identified his motorbike at the police station.
