Creative Storm, a one-stop fully integrated Ghanaian digital media production house, last Saturday honoured one of Ghana's celebrated musicians, Mac Tontoh, at a ceremony in Accra with the key to the Creative Storm Award The presentation of the key to Mr. Tontoh, which formed part of the activities for the formal launch of Creative Storm, selects him as the first celebrated Ghanaian artiste to be honoured in the annual Creative Storm Award documentaries.
With the award, Creative Storm will put together a documentary on the life and achievements of the Mr. Tontoh, a member of Osibisa, African's most successful super pop group in the 1970's and '80s.
Guests at the event watched video presentations including Osibisa's live performances at the famous Marquee in London.
The Mac Tontoh documentary will reveal the exciting roots and development of Ghanaian popular music from his childhood to his time with Uhuru, the legendary hi-life pioneers of the 1960s.
The documentary will also offer unique insights into the evolution of British and American rock music from the late 1960s.
When completed, it will speak to a mass global audience and would be released internationally.
Presenting the Key to Mac Tontoh, Prof. Kwabena Nketia, a renowned musician, praised Mac Tontoh and the Osibisa band for opening doors to make people feel the dynamism of African music.
He said their music displayed creativity and was a tool for communication and called for the need to move the dynamism to the rest of the world.
Kwesi Owusu, chief executive of Creative Storm, said the awards would be an annual event to honour a selected artiste to have his life and works documented. Creative Storm, intends to introduce to Ghana, a distinctively new and exciting approach to effective communications and to earn a place for Ghana, amongst the world leaders in multi media productions
