Crown of Praise is born

Accra, April 27, GNA - The "Crowns of Praise" a gospel band, was on Sunday inaugurated at the Ghana Police Church, Licence Office in Accra, to provide music for worship and during other Church activities. The "Crowns of Praise" which replaces the old Gospel Band that has been in existence for the past 16 years, has 41 members with Mr Sam Akurang Wiafe as the president.

Preaching the inaugural sermon, the Very Reverend Isaac Ishmael Arthur, a Methodist Minister and a Post-Graduate Student of Princeton University, US, said spiritual landmarks are meant to direct the path while spiritual names shaped the character.

He urged members of the Band to strive to serve God through song ministration rather than commercialisation, saying that the hymns, which have stood the test of time, were composed for adoration, praise and worship of God and not for money.

Very Rev. Arthur said the undying love of God would always be there to assist in times of adversity.

The Very Rev Superintendent Frank D. Twum-Baah, Chaplain of the Church, performed the naming ceremony. Appeal for funds during the first service yielded about 7,500 Ghana Cedis.
