Award-winning Ghanaian gospel music artiste, Cwesi Oteng, after creating so much suspense with the shoot and release of a world-class music video for his hit single, ‘God Dey Bless Me (Speak Those Things)’, has finally released the much talked about video. The hit single which is breaking new grounds with a huge crossover effect and earning loads of recognition for the creative and anointed musician was released early in the year and soon began generating loads of buzz online on social media with call for a mega video to complement it.

A few months after a special ‘Behind the Scenes’ footage surfaced further to heighten fans anticipation before the official video was released last week. The video was shot by another creative wiz, Nana Kofi Asihene, one of Ghana’s best music video directors (won the Best Directed Video at the 2011 4syte MVA) with support from his NKACC team and is being acclaimed by some media experts who had the exclusive sneak preview of the video before is release as one of the best videos to come out of Ghana. Incidentally, the director himself revealed on radio a couple of weeks back that it might have been his best work so far.

Early in the year, Cwesi Oteng released his ‘God Dey Bless Me’ song as the second official prelude single off his highly anticipated ‘Mercy Project’ album scheduled to be finally released middle of this year via a celebration concert. The song immediately became an instant favourite among music lovers with its catchy lyrics and groovy beats. It has also managed to gain a crossover effect making it to music and entertainment blogs and promotional sites online hitherto were hub for secular music and rotation on radio is gradually gaining momentum.

Speaking to the elated Cwesi Oteng about the video, he related that, ‘We (my team) decided it was best we did something very creative with the video and up the standards following the back drop of achievement earned and doors my ‘Mercy (But For Your Mercy)’ has opened for us. So we decided to do it to encourage other gospel artistes to complement their great music and messages with good videos and as well put us on the pedal for recognition. I believe Nana Asihene who directed my ‘Mercy’ video as well put it so much work and the video strongly projects the message we want to spread out there to show the world and celebrate the source of our blessings and success. So far the comments we are receiving world over are encouraging and we can only strive to do more as the album is just a couple of months away from release.’

The video for ‘God Dey Bless Me’ was shot in Kumasi in a white studio with a great set of cast from Cwesi’s Flo Riva Inc team and TeamCwesiOteng in KNUST and first premiered in UK on Faithworld TV and during Glory 2012 concert at the National Theatre before its online premiere on youtube. The video is receiving good plaudits by viewers so far and is expected to rake in awards and opportunities for the young artiste.
