D2 Arrives With ‘Ewo’

They might be new on the music scene but the hiplife duo, D2 comprising Duke Thompson and George ‘Genesis’ Ocansey, say they have a lot to offer music lovers as evidenced by their Ewo song which is already enjoying ample airplay.

Riding on an exuberant Azonto beat, Ewo is a feel-good piece that prompts one to dance. It bunches a lot of easily recognizable phrases together and it is fairly obvious that the song refers to a beautiful woman.

The track is a single from D2’s soon-to-be –released 12-track album titled God Dey which features some of the top names in music. Ewo was virtually created in a day in the studio.

“We went to sound engineer Appietus’ studio late last year to do a song and he came up with an exciting beat which went very well with a repeatition of Ewo as a chorus line. We felt we had done a good job after the final production,” said the duo who also explained that “Ewo means something sweet, a sweet girl who is down to earth.”

Duke and Genesis are cousins who have been doing music for about eight years and believe the time to shine is now, having learnt what they believe is enough basics to get going in the music business.

They are happy that though Ewo is barely two months old, it is fast catching on in the clubs and on the airwaves, making nearly everyone who hears it move their bodies to the beat.

D2 have had the opportunity to perform at some events including the Plus Fm Jam and the Hype Records Unity Jam. Duke is product of the Trans-African College in Accra and Genesis is a former student of Accra Technical Training College.

“We are not bragging when we say the future looks good for us because we have very good music on our God Dey album. We are confident everyone will enjoy it when it arrives.

D2 is currently not under any management but the young men say they are very grateful to Appietus and Hype Records for helping them come this far.
