Ghanaian Amapiano sensation DJ Azonto says he has quit music to explore a career in comedy because most Ghanaian musicians are poor.

According to the 'Fa No Fom' hitmaker, he sees comedy as a lucrative venture and plans to headline some of the big comedy shows not only in Ghana but also overseas.

Speaking in an interview about his decision to suddenly quit music, DJ Azonto said he was not getting the financial gains he deserved from music, a major reason for his exit from the industry.

"I want to venture into comedy, where I will charge $100,000 as fees for any appearance I make. I am a versatile artist, and I want to explore my potential in comedy.

"I have always loved comedy, and I think many comedians are not funny enough. But seeing how I make people love entertainment, it will be good to focus on comedy," he said.

DJ Azonto further revealed plans to make the official announcement of his next move on his mum's birthday, which falls on August 14, 2024.

"I will make the comedy industry big because I have partners who are interested in investing in my talent, and my fans should not be disappointed in me quitting music.

"I promise to make them happy with my comedy, and they should expect some hilarious shows in the near future," he said.
