Becca's new single “Forever” hit radio two weeks ago and already, it is a favourite on most radio presenter's play list in Ghana.
Considering that the year is fast approaching halfway without hits released this year, Hi Newspaper asked a few radio presenters if ‘Forever’ is fast becoming that song to join the Song of the Year bag by the close of 2010.
Kwame B hosts “Groove Control” on Hitz 103.7 FM on weekdays. “I can't stop playing “Forever”, simply because it is a beautiful piece. The vocal performance and instrumentation are perfect plus it is a song, listeners always want to hear”
Sammy Forson plays the “Mid-Morning Show” on YFM 107.7 on weekdays. “I think the reason for the massive air play is simple, To start with, Kiki Banson, Becca's manager has a very good relationship with radio presenters. He won't pay you “payola” but would treat you in a way that would make you want to return the favour. He makes all top presenters listen to the songs by his artistes and allow them make their inputs before the song gets out of the studio. The song itself is a great song. It was performed and recorded with a live band which gives it a natural feel. You can't hear it once and not want to listen to it again.”
All the big players on radio: Kwame Sefa Kayi (Peace FM), Kofi Kum Bilson, Abeiku Santana (Adom FM), Kwame Adinkra (Angel FM), Bola Ray (Joy FM), Nana Ato Gyando (Skyy Power FM), Jamestar (K-FM) etc. have ‘Forever’ on their play list.
Next week, we find out how Samini’s freshest “Sweet Mistake” is doing after three weeks on radio.
