Latest to join the number of people readying to contest the President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Bice ‘Obuor’ Osei Kuffuor for the union’s presidency in this year elections, is ace highlife crooner Daasebre Gyamena.
DasebreHe said this after releasing his most recent song Woso Mame on the hottest album Yen Fii Ta, on Kasapa FM’s entertainment show dubbed Entertainment Voice hosted by Kojo Preko Dankwah last Saturday 30th May, 2015. He adds on to Gyedu Blay Ambulley, O.B Demestry and Shatta Wale.
This statement came as a surprise to the host. He asked for a second time, if he really meant what he said. Daasebre stated emphatically that he is ready to contest and become the next president of MUSIGA.
According to Daasebre, MUSIGA should be awake and put structures in place to make the music industry attractive because sales are down due to piracy. “We should check the rate at which piracy is destroying the market and find solutions to it,” he said.
Knowing very well that his demand has gone down as compared to his previous years in early 2000s, he thinks his good songs are making him relevant in the industry.
He added that recording singles with other artistes like Okyeame Kwame, Scooby Sellah now Fiifi Sellah of Pluzz FM, Nana Kwame and other artistes as he has done previously is not a problem but it affects performance if you don’t get the featured artiste on the show.
With his latest song Woso Mame, Daasebre still has his high hopes that he will make it as he has always done irrespective of the genre of music making waves now.
