Embittered gospel artiste, Isaiah Kwadwo Ampong popularly known as The Great Ampong has expressed his anger over a raw deal he suffered at the hands of highlife veteran, Charles Kojo Fosu, known in showbiz as Daddy Lumba over an alleged GH¢340,000.00 album launch proceeds which the later pocketed.
“I went to church with Lumba, it was because of me that the man of God gave him an opened top car. I wanted to help him get healed by God so that he will know God better, but our friendship became like that of Jesus and Judas. Whilst Jesus was focused on Judas’ salvation, Judas on the other hand aimed at making money from Jesus.”
Speaking with Kojo Preko Dankwa on Kasapa Entertainment on Kasapa 102.5FM, the renowned Gospel musician said Daddy Lumba gave a declaration during the launch of the ‘Hosanna’ album that he will from henceforth discontinue recording highlife songs.
Ampong advised the Highlife Great to commit to memory his own promise to God who healed him that he’ll always serve him.
“He (Daddy Lumba) gave a testimony in the house of God that he wouldn’t venture into highlife music but I don’t really know if he is in the studio recording a highlife song. He should remember his own testimony, he should also remember the God who healed him, he should remember what he said about desisting from highlife music and his vow to serve Jehovah his entire life.”
Preko then asked Ampong if all the eight (8) songs out of the ten (10) he wrote were registered in his name, he replied “Oh no with even the songs he (Lumba) still sells them in traffic so I never ventured to go close to it. In Ghana the system we came to meet that is how it’s supposed to happen.”
The host then asked why he didn’t claim the copyright of the album, Ampong then disclosed “Oh it’s mine so count it as part of my intellectual properties but because of busy schedules I haven’t gotten time to register… I will register soon.”
The two artistes, (Daddy lumba and Kwadwo Ampong) formed a group called Kojo Kojo to release hit single, “Hossana” in 2015.
According to Bandex, manager of Great Ampong, the two musicians agreed to share the money they will get from the launch of the song.
He added that the management of Lumba took away the money they got from the launch of the song immediately after the event when Ampong was taking pictures with his fans without his knowledge.
Ampong is out again with another album titled ‘Yehowa Kai Me’ which literary means God remember me.
