Dark Suburb, Ghana’s first alternative rock band, has set off to Lagos, Nigeria, to participate in the All Africa Music Awards where they have been nominated for two awards: Best African Group and Best in African Rock.
The nomination is yet another great recognition for the band, having, earlier this year, emerged winners of the unsung competition of then Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2015.
Dark Suburb has been nominated among some heavyweights in the African music scene. For Best African Group, they are competing with the likes of Nigerian power duo, P-Sqaure; Kenyan Sensation, Sauti Sol; and Ghana’s legends, VVIP.
The band’s hit song, I Dey Feel You Die, is competing for Best in African Rock Song with other songs from across the continent, including a song from their own acclaimed girlfriend Noella Wiyaala, with whom they recently collaborated on the single, MAMA.
The Awards Ceremony is taking place this weekend at the plush Eko Hotel and suites, Victoria Island, Lagos and the band have been billed to deliver an electric performance for patrons.
