President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Friday, 20 December 2019, inaugurated the Governing Board of the National Film Authority, chaired by veteran actor Mr David Dontoh.
The Authority’s Executive Secretary is actress Ms Juliet Asante.
The functions of the National Film Authority are, amongst others, to supervise an economically, self-sustaining and culturally conscious film industry in the country and advise the Minister on matters affecting the film industry.
The Authority is also to facilitate the establishment of a circuit for the distribution and marketing of Ghanaian films throughout the country and internationally and also to ensure the development and administration of a code of ethics for the film industry.
In addition, to oversee the Film Development Fund and to set standards for training and accreditation of practitioners in the film industry.
