Dear GhanaWeb: Fear men!

Dear GhanaWeb,

Where did I go wrong?

After my husband lost his job, things became difficult for us. Our children had to drop out of school because we could not afford to pay their fees, let alone enroll them in a public school.

I had a job, but my salary was not enough to manage our home. I believed in my husband's ability to bounce back someday because of the efforts he was putting in to restore our standard of living to its former glory.

He was making an effort, but at a certain point, I became discouraged and was willing to do anything for my husband and children.

My mother gave me some money to deposit at the bank. I do not know how I came up with that idea, but I returned home and told my mother that I was attacked by some unknown men, and instead, I gave the money to my husband to start a business.

He asked where I got the money, and I told him it was a loan.

My husband’s business flourished and he repaid the money I gave him. I also explained to him how I obtained that money.

A year later, my husband has served me with divorce papers. According to him, he has been thinking about what I did to my mother and is afraid I will do the same to him.

I mean, how? My husband is using the sacrifice I made for the family as a central point to divorce me.

There’s not a day that I haven't begged him and assured him that I would never hurt him, but he is determined to leave me.

I’m puzzled and unsure whether to let him go or continue to fight to win him back.

What should I do?
