Dear GhanaWeb,
Words trigger memories for me. I guess that is one of the ways I remember past events.
We spent the night together, which was our first night since we started dating three months ago. The next morning, we were debating a topic when she said, "You will pay in kind." Those words brought back some memories of my ex.
Before my ex and I broke up, I helped her retrieve some lost documents, and I told her she would "pay in kind," which led to us kissing for six minutes.
I remembered that moment while I was with my current girlfriend. I giggled, and she was curious to know why.
Initially, I didn't want to, but she insisted, and I did. Her mood suddenly changed, and she questioned why I was reminiscing about the days I spent with my ex in her presence.
She packed her stuff and left without allowing me to explain myself or offer an apology.
That same day, I received a call from her, announcing our breakup. She said that what happened clearly showed that I was still in love with my ex.
I thought she was joking, but the constant phone call rejections and her refusal to open her door when I visited her showed how serious she was.
How could a joke turn into a breakup?
