Dear GhanaWeb,
I have been married to my husband for six months now, and he has never given me any money to support our home.
Before we got married, we dated for a year, during which he never bought me a watch or provided any financial assistance. I assumed he was testing me to see if I would be a good wife, so I went along with it. When he finally asked for my hand in marriage, I accepted.
However, since our wedding, he has not given me any money for household expenses. When I asked him for money, he claimed he had family issues to deal with and couldn't help.
For the first two months, I managed the house expenses with the extra money we had from the wedding. But after that, I ran out of money, and when I told him, he asked me to find other ways to manage the house.
Now, after six months of marriage, he still hasn't provided any financial support, and when he comes home to find no food, he argues with me. I feel stuck and don't know what to do.
My parents advised me not to involve others in my marital issues, so I'm unsure who to turn to for help. I'm considering leaving the marriage, but I'm afraid of the backlash and insults I might face.
How should I address this situation?
