Diana Hamilton Peace Endorsement Tour launched

Ghana’s gospel sensation and multiple award winner and nominee, Diana Hamilton, on Wednesday launched her campaign for peaceful elections dubbed “Diana Hamilton Peace Endorsement Tour for 2012 Elections” in Accra.

The tour began with the press launch and signing of the peace endorsement form in Accra, and will be replicated in all the ten regions of Ghana, seeking signatures from different groups and opinion leaders in society.

Speaking at the press launch, Diana Hamilton explained noted “the fundamental objectives of this tour is to replace the mere rhetoric of peace by certain personalities in Ghana with action-backed words through signing of the Diana Hamilton Peace Endorsement Tour For 2012 Elections forms.

The gifted musician will travel through the length and breadth of the country educating and collating signatures from Ghanaians of all walks of life to support and preach peace in the coming general elections.

She will be reaching out to people in churches, mosque, traditional leaders, schools etc as well as organizing town hall meetings to sensitize people on the need for peace before, during and after the December general elections.

She noted that, although elections are about making choices between various political and ideological leanings and not violent confrontations, Ghana’s return to multi-party democracy since 1992 has seen violence and intimidation at one point or other virtually in all election that has been conducted.

“The unfortunate events in 2008 elections in some parts of the country, should remind all of us of the need to reject and condemn all acts of lawlessness, politics of insults, intimidation and banditry and preach peace before, during and after 2012 general elections” she said.

She noted that the current trend of political violence is a threat to Ghana’s democracy and stability and can erode the political, social, cultural and economic gains the country has chalked over the years.

“At the end of the elections, God willing I will climax the success of the tour with free musical show with support from other gospel musicians on 7th January, 2013,” She told journalist.
