"Do whatever you like with him " Please!

Fiapre (B/A) March 2 GNA - A septuagenarian woman threw a circuit court at Fiapre in Brong Ahafo into prolonged laughter when she pleaded with the presiding judge to "do whatever he liked" with her son who stood accused of threatening her with death.

This was when Mr. Justice J. Kwadwo Owusu asked her as to what to do with the son, Joseph Antwi, a 36-year-old farmer, who had pleaded guilty with explanation to the charge of threat of death. "My Lord, my son smokes 'wee' and will kill me because he has been harassing me for too long and I wish you will confine him for as long as you wish", Madam Yaa Pokuaa, also a farmer at Kwatire, near Sunyani appealed.

After listening to his explanation, the court, however, entered a plea of not guilty for him and ordered that he be remanded into police custody for two weeks to re-appear on March 16, for a definite hearing of the case.

The case of the prosecution was that Antwi had continuously threatened to kill the mother because he suspected her to be a witch and the cause of his "troubles." .

Prosecution said one day the accused ambushed his mother on her farm and holding two sharpened cutlasses threatened to "finish" her but she was rescued by two other sons who arrested and handed him over to the police.
