Bishop Peter Kayode Falarungbon has discouraged young people from succumbing to pressures to conduct marriages on astronomical budgets and has asked them to desist from choosing spouse based on their financial standing.

Speaking to asempanews.com, the founder of the Awakeners Chapel International Ministries explained that counselors who are going about telling young women not to settle down with male counter parts who do not have comfortable apartments and so on, are saying so based on their own philosophy.

“… these claims by some counselors are based on their own philosophy. It is not scriptural. It is normal that one should be able to start marriage with their own limited resources. Be open to your spouse and don’t be stingy. Let him or her know what you have and manage it and plan together to seek other means out of your current situation,” he advised.

Bishop Kayode stated categorically that, young people should not be in a hurry and know that one person’s situation is different from others.

“The way God planed someone’s life may be very different from yours. The same way, Rome was not built in a day, so is marriage; it is a stage by stage process,” he observed.

Based on his explanation, he admonished couples to understand themselves and cushion each other, trusting on God in faith as they work together to improve their situation through legitimate means and God will send a helper in due time.
