Popular Ghanaian media personality, DJ Slim, has shared insights from a candid conversation he had with Dr. Kwaku Oteng, founder of the Angel Group of Companies.
In a recent discussion with GhPageTV, Slim, a former employee of Angel FM, revealed that Dr. Oteng had expressed his intention to sell his radio and TV stations.
Slim recounted that even before joining the station, Dr. Oteng had voiced frustrations about unmet expectations regarding the media station's performance.
He said they were not meeting his expectations.
“He told me he wanted to sell the frequency. He told me that he is fed up running the radio station and that his expectations for the media house weren’t met. Papa told me that if he gets a buyer, he will sell it.
“He even mentioned a price at which he would sell it. It’s not just the radio; he wanted to sell the TV station and several others. I don’t want to say much, but there’s a lot happening,” he stated.
Slim further mentioned that Dr. Oteng received offers but deemed them too small.
“Some potential buyers came around, but he said their budgets were too small,” he explained.
Additionally, Slim highlighted a troubling trend within the media house, with numerous employees resigning in quick succession.
The likes of Nana Yaa Brefo and Kofi Adomaa Nwawani, among others, recently left to pursue their careers elsewhere.
Following her exit, Nana Yaa Brefo criticised the media house for not allowing her the freedom to operate as she wished and for lacking the necessary resources.
She also mentioned that negative dynamics with colleagues played a role in her departure.
The former general manager of Angel Broadcasting Network, Stacey Amoateng, left quite recently, Kofi Adomaa Nwawanii also left at a point and DJ Slim followed suit. When asked about the situation, Slim stated, “There’s a lot going on that I can’t discuss.”
