Winneba (C/R), June 22, GNA - The Awutu-Effutu-Senya District secretariat of the Centre of National Culture in collaboration with the District Education Service are to organise a drama festival for six junior secondary schools in Winneba on July 9, 2004.
This is the third time such event is being organised to assess the level of civic knowledge of JSS pupils in the area.
The district culture director, Mr. Oxford Solomon Nyarkoh, gave the names of competing schools preparing towards the occasion as, University of Education Winneba South and North Campuses JSS, A.M.E Zion, Presbyterian, Methodist and Anglican junior secondary schools.
He said this year's event would focus on the writing and acting of plays on "indiscipline in the society" and how the nation can curb it to pave the way for effective social, economic, cultural, spiritual and political development.
Such festivals, Mr. Nyankoh said also help to promote the country's rich cultural heritage, especially among the youth who are expected to take over the administration of the nation from the present generation in future.
He expressed the hope that participating schools would be expected to exhibit drama shows, which would be educative enough to supplement Vice-President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama's call for the eradication of all forms of indiscipline among the people.
