Tema, July 02, GNA - A 32-year-old driver who forcibly had carnal knowledge of a Banku seller at Lashibi has been remanded into custody by the Tema Circuit Court 'A'.
Stephen Narh pleaded not guilty and will re-appear on July 16, 2004. Prosecuting, Police Inspector Adolphus Otchere told the court presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu that on February 29, 2004, at about 0400 hours, the 21-year-old victim was busily preparing her Banku, with her back facing the entrance of the house.
He said the accused suddenly pounced on her from behind, held her throat strongly to prevent her from shouting.
The accused lifted her to his room, put her on his bed, held her mouth, tore her dress and panties and forcibly had sex with her. Inspector Otchere said, immediately after the act, the victim rushed to her sister, (Selisi Agbotsigah) who was staying about 800 meters away and reported the incident to her.
He said the sister also took her to the Ewe chief in the community and made a complaint, however, when the accused was invited, he refused to attend.
On March 7, 2004, they reported the case to Ashaiman police and she was issued with a medical form to attend hospital, after that accused was arrested, and in his caution statement, the accused admitted the offence, but said it was with the consent of the complainant.
