Accra, Feb. 18, GNA - A 22-year-old driver who stole five sheep, valued at 7.5 million cedis, was on Wednesday remanded in custody by a Greater Accra Magistrate Court.
The driver, Kwadwo Obuobi, pleaded not guilty to stealing. The case was rescheduled for March 3.
Police Inspector John Mensah who prosecuted, told the court, presided over by Mrs. Olivia Owusu, that at about 17.00 hours on February 11, this year, the accused and two others, who have absconded, arrived in a taxicab at a field where the complainant was grazing his sheep.
According to Inspector Asare, the taxicab stopped at the field, and the three persons then stole five of the sheep into the car. The prosecution stated further that when Mr. Awembono Abass, a native of Bolgatanga, and now based in Accra spotted them, he raised the alarm and the two accomplices took to their heels and drove away leaving Obuobi behind.
Inspector Asare said Obuobi missed the car, and was given a hot chase by Mr. Abass, who managed to arrest him and handed him over to the police. He said during investigation, the accused led the police to the house of the accomplices, but they could not be traced.
