Driver's mate in court for stealing

Tema, Feb. 9, GNA- Bright Bosu, a driver's mate who stole goods from the Tema port on Thursday appeared before a Tema Circuit court. He pleaded not guilty to stealing a bag containing 200 pairs of "bathroom" slippers. He was granted 10 million cedis bail to re-appear on March 13.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Adolphus Otchere told the court presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu that on Monday, February 2, Mr Kobore Issaka, a Burkinabe, loaded an articulated truck with goods meant for Mali.

He said he parked the loaded truck at the transit area awaiting some money to procure fuel for the journey but in the night of the following day, while he (Issaka) and his mate were sleeping, Bosu and an accomplice sneaked in and stole some of the goods.

Inspector Otchere said Mr Issaka and others raised an alarm, which led to the arrest of the accused person with his booty but the other escaped.
