Accra, Jul 7, GNA - A twenty-year old driver's mate, Edmund Kwasi Yamboi, has been jailed 18 months by an Accra Magistrate Court Grade, presided over by Mrs. Ivy Heward Mills. Police Inspector Ebenezer Darko told the crowded court that on June 30 2003, a Madina Police labourer; Mr. Francis Alandu slaughtered a dog for some Frafras at Madina. While preparing the meat, he placed the head on a coal-pot for smoking and the accused, without the consent of Mr. Alandu, went for the head. One Mr Oduro informed Mr. Alandu that the accused had gone for the head and when he confronted Yamboi, the accused became offended and hit the forehead of the labourer with a stone wounding him. A report was made and two policemen were detailed to arrest the accused. Yamboi on seeing the police attacked and bite the left arm of Constable Francis Nana Amoah. He was, however, over powered and taken to the Police Station. Yamboi who pleaded guilty on the three counts of assaulting a public officer, causing harm and stealing, was sentenced in hard labour.
