Drogba And Essien New Music Release

Premiership stars Didier Drogba and Michael Essien are aiming to top the music chart, where Chelsea failed last season in the Premier League, in aid of racial awareness. Past singles released by football stars, have not always received great critical claim from the music press. Gazza?s cover of Lindisfarne?s Fog On The Tyne, and Hoddle and Waddle?s collaboration, called Diamond Nights, both achieved chart success, but will not be remembered with any great fondness.

The thought then of then of two of Chelsea?s starts attempting to break into the pop charts, is not something a lot of people will greet with too much excitement.

The single though is not just a vain attempt by the starts to further their popularity, instead it is meant to highlight the issue of racism in football, with all profits going to Chelsea's official UK charity CLIC Sargent.

The single, called Skins, has been recorded with Willis and The Willing and is set for release on Monday October 22nd.

If you are unable to wait that long though, to hear the beautiful voices of the Chelsea stars, you can see Drogba?s rap contribution to the song on the Chelsea produced documentary Blue Revolution.

Despite the good cause the song is in aid of, I think the message for the boys will probably be, to stick to the day job.

The part-time singers will be looking for Chelsea to pick up all three points at the weekend, to get their season back on track, as they currently lie in 7th place in the league table.
