Ghanaian musician Kwabena Kwabena has spoken out about the tragic East Legon accident involving the 16-year-old son of Bishop Salifu Amoako.

The accident, which occurred on October 12, 2024, resulted in the death of two young girls and has sparked outrage both on and off social media.

In an interview on Adom TV, Kwabena Kwabena expressed his condolences to the victims' families and acknowledged the misfortune faced by both Bishop Salifu Amoako and the bereaved families.

He urged the public to refrain from casting judgment and instead learn from the tragedy, emphasising the need for empathy with the words, "When you see a man fall, don’t laugh, and learn."

Kwabena Kwabena also called for stricter enforcement of road safety laws, particularly regarding minors driving.

He also criticised what he described as Ghana's selective enforcement of laws, stating, “It shows our laws are not really working; it only works on the weak, feeble, and the poor.”

He stressed the importance of treating all individuals equally under the law to ensure justice is served.

Following the accident, Bishop Salifu Amoako and his wife, Mouha Amoako, were arrested on October 15, 2024 and were later granted bail of ¢50,000 each.

A video of Salifu Amoako apologising to the family popped up on social media but was met with mixed reactions.

On October 18, 2024, a teary vigil was held at the accident site in memory of the two girls.

The accident and its aftermath have led to calls for more stringent traffic regulations, especially concerning underage driving.
