Eba, pounded yam revive Falcons

A GREAT deal of hope appear in the horizon for Nigeria, ahead of Thursday’s second Group-A match against host USA, as team officials have moved to solve some of the problems facing the team here.

The girls are now being served African or Nigerian prepared dishes in the light of earlier problems of food they faced in the hotel. The process began Monday evening after FIFA acceded to a request by the Nigerian camp to have a supply from outside the hotel which the players have so suddenly appreciated.

“Now I can eat eba or pounded yam which I’m used to and no more those petty things they served since we came,” said defender Kikelomo Ajayi, soon after taking the first meal Monday evening. “I’m better now. It tastes so well to eat something I know would make me happy and give better energy. I was near vomitting eating the same things they served,” another central defender Bunmi Kayode said shortly after the meal.

Players had objected to being served often, the continental meals by the hotel, with many finding the food strange and a times, refusing to eat.

“Now, we are happy that one essential need has been solved for them. How I wish we had this from the beginning,” said Sunmonu Bello-Osagie, who is with the team in camp.

Both captain Florence Omagbemi and attacker Mercy Akide brightened up after having the first course of the local food they knew and Omagbemi said it felt good that this will now be made continuous as per arrangement by team officials.

“It’s better than what we faced. Players are happier with this arrangement and we appreciate it,” she said.
