For patrons who besieged the 2017 Radio and Television Personality (RTP) Awards last night, it was as much to see who would win what as it was to see performances from their favourite music acts.

It is therefore no wonder that when Empire act EBOO stormed unto the stage, the entire auditorium went agog. Flanked by wingman K FLY, the prolific dancehall/ Afrobeats singer roused the crowd as soon as his feet (hosted in mighty Timberland boots) stumped unto the prestigious stage.

Best known for his 2006 anthem Once/ Twice, Andrew Joel Adisi (as he is privately known) sparked off affairs with a passionate rendering of It Is Possible –the touching song he released in honour of celebrated broadcaster Bola Ray’s memoire with the same name.

EBOO has been away from Ghana’s music scenes for some years now, but not his songs –for when he began chanting an a capella version of Once/Twice, the crowd immediately latched onto it, reciting the rest of the song like it was released only yesterday. Thus is the impact of classics. EBOO is a man of classics!

Buoyed further by the audience response and widespread recall of the groundbreaking single, the “NAGGA Regent” decided that the crowd was ready for new sauce.

Bad Girl, with which he closed his brilliant set, is one of a number of flavoursome singles which he has unleashed with his return to active music. It was produced by Legacy Beats, and is off EBOO’s forthcoming GOOD LIFE album.

GOOD LIFE consists 21 songs masterfully brewed over years, and was already labelled a “game changer” at a listening session attended by key connoisseurs sometime back.

Accompanying visuals for Bad Girl (directed by OJ Films) come out on November 1, and judging by the rapturous reception it got at the Accra International Conference Centre last night, it is highly-anticipated.

Other performers on the night include Ebony, Kurl Songz and Patience Nyarko.
