Eddie Watson and wife, Naomi Watson celebrated husband’s birthday with kids from the New Life Orphanage Home on 22nd May, 2014. The journey was far from a celebrity stunt, the renowned actor was accompanied by their friends and colleagues in an eight-car convoy that includes the media.
Amina, an old school friend of Mrs. Watson started the ceremony with an open prayer in Arabic. Actor cum director Eddie Nartey introduced himself as the Master of the Ceremony (MC) and hilariously, the kids got their ribs cracked. The Founder of the Orphanage took us (the Watson’s, friends, colleagues and press) through the history of New Life Orphanage Home.
The kids could not hide their talents; they entertained their guests in a dance competition. And at the end, Martha and Edem (inmates) emerged the best dancers of New Life Orphanage Home.
Actor Eddie Watson and wife (who celebrated her birthday 3 days earlier) blessed the home with Items worth thousands of Ghana cedis. They pledged a year scholarship to any of the female inmate in the Senior High School. After the donation, the orphans supported the actor to cut ‘the Happy Birthday Eddie’ cake.
The Barbers Association of Ghana volunteered two of their barbers to cut the hair of the male inmates but surprising their service extended to the journalists who came to cover the event. With an order from Leo’s catering service, the kids had enough food and drinks to party.
Actress Soraya Mensah was there to support Eddie Watson. It was her birthday too and she also pledged a 12 month scholarship (each) to support four of the inmates. Lord Calvin also pledged the same as Soraya. Voluntarily, Eddie Nartey, Selma Mumin, Charlotte Derban (Face of Vienna, 2013), Amyna da general among others were present to support Mr. and Mrs. Watson.
Happy belated birthday!
