Up-and-coming Ghanaian artist Keeny Ice has debunked allegations that renowned rapper Ayigbe Edem is unsupportive of artists hailing from the Volta Region.

Speaking in an interview on Cape Coast-based Ahomka FM on May 11, Keeny Ice clarified that Edem has supported him and other up-and-coming artists from the region.

However, with both being active artists without any external support, Edem can only do so much before leaving the rising artists to take over.

"Everybody has their strengths; they can only do up to a certain point. And Edem is still active in music and an independent artist, so you don't expect him to go out of his way to do too much. He has done his best to bring some of us up, including my brothers. So we will take over from there," he said.

Keeny Ice is among other rising artists, including Kasar, Lali X Lola, Seven Kizs, Alaptawan, and Kwesi Amewuga, who have been nominated for the prestigious Unsung Artist of the Year category at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards 2024.

This year marks the 11th anniversary of the Unsung category, an initiative by the award scheme to amplify the presence of up-and-coming artists and propel them into the limelight.

The Unsung category has served as a springboard for artists like MzVee, Kuami Eugene, Epixode, Dope Nation, the late Ebony Reigns, and Kelvyn Boy, who all utilized this platform before achieving greater success.

The nominees also performed on May 11, 2024, at the Robert Mensah Stadium in Cape Coast, setting the stage for an unforgettable main awards event in a few weeks.

As a highlight of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards 2024, the Xperience Concert was an electrifying showcase featuring nearly all of Ghana's premier musicians.
