One of Ghana’s emerging female artistes, Tina Mensah, popularly known as Elivava will be setting the Goethe Institut agog with her music as she launches her maiden album on Friday, November 7. Watch Video: Welcome by Elivava
The album is an assortment of Afro Rock, Afro Beat and Soul as well as ballads of contemporary music style which are performed in English, French, German and some local Ghanaian languages such as Twi, Ewe and Ga.
Elivava has performed with top artistes such as Kojo Antwi, Amandzeba Nat Brew, Samini, VIP, Afro Moses, Bantu from Nigeria, Gigi Ananda from France, and Dela of Hewale Sounds.
Her work is greatly influenced by people like South African vocalist Mariam Makeba, outstanding Jazz singer Billy Holiday, as well as Blues legend B.B. King.
She told Beatwaves that Ghanaians were finding it difficult to come to terms with her kind of music but for her, she needs to do that brand of music because she wants to go international.
She commended the management of Goethe Institut for their support in her journey to stardom.
