Tema, July 07, GNA - An electrician of Water Producing Company at Baatsona in Accra, who stole a key and a heat regulator valued at 800,000 cedis from COB (A) Industries has been granted five million cedis bail by the Tema District Magistrate court.
Ebenezer Awuye Kpobi pleaded not guilty to a stealing charge and will re-appear on August 2, 2004, Prosecuting, Police Sergeant Grace Fosu told the court, presided over by Nana Agyeman Badu that on June 18, 2004, at about 1700 hours, the accused closed from work at COB (A) Industries limited at Baatsona and the security man on duty at the gate searched the bag he (accused) was holding.
She said the security man found a key and a heat regulator for millennium machine that provides pure water at the company, hidden in the bag and when he was questioned, the accused could not give any tangible answer as to how he came by the item.
Sgt. Fosu said the accused was arrested immediately and handed over to Community 18 police, adding that, in his caution statement the accused stated that he picked the regulator to show to his Nigerian friend at Ashaiman who wanted to import the item into the country. 07 July 04
