The Founder of 3Music Awards, Sadiq Abdulai Abu has rebutted Professor Edward Gyampo’s comment purporting that entertainers are dumb.
Professor Ransford Gyampo, who is the head of the political science department of the University of Ghana, cautioned against the growing number of well-known individuals or entertainers who are fighting their way to hold a political position.
“African Elections thrive on fame and popularity, rather than competence. To develop, we don’t need popular people. We need those who have a track record of achievement and competence in managing their own lives and private professions. We need people who appreciate and understand the dogmatic ideas of representation, and have the canons as well as commitment, to act in a manner responsive to the interests of constituents when elected,” reads a section of Professor Gyampo’s post via his Facebook page.
However, media magnate-Sadiq Abdul in a sharp reply to the Professor’s comment substantiated his stance that entertainers are very creative, have sharp brains and they deserve to be voted into power.
According to him, many people who are in the entertainment industry can match these politicians ‘boot for boot’ if they are to have equal advantages.
“Everybody uses what they have to their advantage in politics. There are far more serious people in entertainment,” he said in an interview on Hitz FM-which was monitored Zionfelix.net.
