Entertainment critic and sound engineer, Justice Oteng known by his beat signature, Wei Ye Oteng has called on Musician Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) to give equal opportunities to musicians in other regions apart from Accra.

“MUSIGA has offices all over Ghana but Ghana music week always takes place in Accra. That must not be so, they need to distribute this fairly. The trend must be in a way such that every region has a feel of what goes on in the music industry. Its should be rotated so other regions can benefit too.”

According to him, most of the events organised by Musician Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) are centralised in Accra making musicians in other regions feel neglected.

As a panel member on Kasapa Entertainment, Wei ye Oteng told Kojo Preko Dankwa on Kasapa 102.5FM, that it appears most artistes believe it is only in Accra one can succeed with his or her music career because it is in the capital that they will be invited to events to perform.

“This whole thing is turning into a one way thing because individuals with good talents are always excluded. It’s about time MUSIGA develop the other regions and make it as strong as Accra. MUSIGA’s mandate is to uncover talents, teach them their crafts and how to make money with their talents.”

Chief Executive Officer of Drum Lyne Entertainment stated that when equal opportunity are given to other artistes to showcase what they have, it becomes so easy to coordinate them for another event.

His comments come after President for the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGHA), Bice Osei Kuffour aka Obour justified why the Ghana Music Week recorded a low turn-out.

Oteng has produced legends like Obrafour, Trigmatic, Nii Soul, Manifest, Okyeame Kwame, Sarkodie, KK fosu, Double, Kwame A Plus, Barima Sydney and many more.

He won Record of the Year at the 2013 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) with Wosi Nti and confident of grabbing the 2017 Producer of the year. He was also nominated in the sound Engineer of the year category.

Oteng will be competing with Nacee, Kill beatz, Kuvie and Akwaboah in the producer of the year and the Sound Engineer of the year category.
