Nkawie (Ash), March 14, GNA - A 26-year-old unemployed has told the Nkawie circuit court that evil spirits torment him daily to steal. Francis Amponsah, who was facing a charge of stealing a mobile phone valued at 900,000 cedis, pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment in hard labour.
Police Chief Inspector Robert Yitamkey told the court that on January 30 one Kofi Mensah, left his mobile phone in his room and went to have his bath. He said the complainant, who had spotted Amponsah in the area earlier, returned from the bathroom to find that his phone was missing and suspected the accused. Chief Inspector Yitamkey said the complainant raised the alarm and the accused was arrested.
