A farmer at Ajumako Kromain in the Central Region, who could not cope with seeing his former wife married to another man and attempted to kill his rival, has been arrested.
The farmer, Kofi Essel, thirty-two, on Sunday, 18 August, was said to have laid ambush at Ajumako Kromain when he saw his former wife walking arm-in-arm with her new husband, Kwame Alabour.
Using a locally made pistol, Essel positioned himself, aimed at Kwame Alabour and short at him. Kwame Alabour was hit by some of the pellets but he managed to go to the Ajummako Police Station to lodge a complaint. At the Police station he was issued with a medical form to attend the Breman Asikuma Hospital where he was admitted for three days.
The suspect was later arrested and arraigned the Cape Coast Community Tribunal and charged with attempted murder. The suspect, according to Police Chief Inspector Augustine Amonoo, divorced his wife, Yaa Yaa, some seven months ago. The complainant proposed love to her and she agreed and later got married.
On that Sunday, the woman visited her new husband at Ajumako Mando, which was about four kilometres away from Kromain, where the suspect also lives. The following day, Kwame Alabour escorted his new wife to her hometown, at Kromain
But whilst returning to Ajumako Manado, and unknown to him, the accused had laid an ambush. When he spotted him, he brought out a locally manufactured pistol from his pocket, and shot at him. The victim managed to find his way to the police and lodged a complaint, which led to the arrest of Essel.
