"Exquisite Face of the Universe" pageant

Accra, Oct. 13, GNA - A beauty pageant dubbed: "Exquisite Face of the Universe 2008," scheduled for Saturday, October 18 in Ghana would help promote Ghana's tourism potentials abroad, especially in other African countries, Mr Pallav Rastogi, Marketing Manager of LG-Somovision Ghana Limited told GNA on Monday.

It is an initiative by management of First Royal Events, an events organizing company, to showcase Ghana as a tourist attraction centre and bring to bear Ghana's advancement in the beauty, fashion, textile, modelling and entertainment industries.

The pageant is unique and seeks to identify beauty, talents, poise and attitude in ordinary young women in Ghana and abroad and subsequently give them a special platform to reach for the stars through giant strides on the catwalk, both nationally and internationally, as well as advocacy on issues that concern women. The event being held under the theme: "Feel the Spirit," is also promoting unity in the world, irrespective of one's colour or status, whether intellectual or not.

Contestants for this year's pageant are from Lebanon, South Africa, Malaysia, China, England and Nigeria.

Mr Rastogi said management of Somovision was supporting the pageant because it believed in unearthing talents and supporting the tourism industry.

The maiden edition was held in Ghana in 2006 with 22 contestants. 13 Oct. 08
