FIESTA launches "One Ghana" concert

FIESTA, a digital television channel which promotes 100% Ghanaian music over the weekend outdoored a concert dubbed “One Ghana”. The concert according to organizers is aimed at unifying Ghanaians through music.

Scheduled for December 8, this year, the concert is expected to bring together Ghanaians from all ten regions to celebrate the peace Ghana has enjoyed during and after the Supreme Court verdict.

Speaking at the launch CEO of Ohene media (OM), operators of Fiesta, Abraham Ohene Djan explained that the “One Ghana” is a free open-air concert which would be organized annually.

He said for 2013, which is the first year of the concert; the aim is to use music as a unifying tool for bringing Ghanaians together to celebrate peace and also encourage political harmony.

“We have realized that music and entertainment is one of the key elements that brings us together irrespective of our political affiliations or tribal differences and with this in mind our aim is to strengthen peace and unity the country through music. Though it’s a free to attend concert, our target is the youth since there are the people who are used in spearheading violence and disturbances.”

Mr. Ohene Djan said already, a special invitation has been extended to the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Mrs. Elizabeth Ofosu Adjare to come on board.

He said special invitations would also sent to the leaders of the various political parties, the Musicians Union of Ghana, the National Peace Council, the Office of the Chief Imam and other groups as well.

Production manager of Ohene Media Isaac Martey added that, the Fiesta channel established about 5 years to help promote Ghanaian music sees this initiative as a way of contributing to peace and development of the country. He said in the subsequent years, the concert would be held in other regions as well.

He therefore called on all Ghanaians especially the youth and corporate institutions to support the “One Ghana” concert.

“We see the youth as the future leaders and so it is important for them to come on board to support this initiative, we also see peace as a key catalyst to development.”
