Every achieved actor started from somewhere - usually from smaller roles in not too popular movies to major roles in hit movies.

The narrative is a little different for popular actor John Dumelo who rose to fame in his first movie as a seven-year-old primary student of Christ the King International School in Accra. The movie was an instant hit and John’s career in acting was birthed.

Excerpts of the popular actor’s first movie ‘Baby Thief’ has popped up on YouTube and reveals that his charm and antics to woo females did not start today as he tries to take a classmate through after classes lessons in the movie.

‘Baby Thief’ was a local favourite and many movie lovers at the time remember John Dumelo fondly as ‘innocent bad boy’ in his role as Saka.

Unlike most child stars who are unable to continue in the path they start on, John has forged on to feature in movies, both locally and internationally and can easily be categorised as one of the most successful actors in Ghana.

The popular Ghanaian actor who is also adored by Nigerian entertainment industry is a proud supporter of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and has found himself in the middle political scandals involving misuse of state resources.

He, however, does not attribute his success, which has translated to a fashion and cosmetics shop in the Gambia and a clothing line dubbed ‘Jmelo’, to politics.
