In 2017, Ghana’s musicologist, professor, and historian, Emeritus Professor Joseph Hanson Kwabena Nketia on the show 'Thank God Its Friday' with KSM 'faced off' in a rap battle with his grandson M.anifest.

The professor was one of the world's most respected authorities on African music.

His concept and interpretation of time and rhythmic patterns in Ghanaian and other African folk music were revolutionary and became standard for researchers and scholars around the world.

It was not surprising when the world got to know that Prof. Nketia was related to award-winning rapper M.anifest.

KSM in wrapping up his interview with the duo asked the grandfather and grandson to show off their prowess by rapping to any tune.

Prof. Nketiah took us back to the 1940s with his rapping style - the lyrics is not the only thing that will keep you glued listening to him but the proverbial thoughts that come with it as well.

Prof. Nketiah passed away in March 2019.

Described in 2015 by the Guardian (UK) as “the foremost rapper on the continent,” M.anifest’s originality and impressive lyricism has earned him collaborations with musical giants such as Tony Allen, Damon Albarn, Flea (Red hot Chili Peppers), Erykah Badu, Femi Kuti, A.B Crentsil and more.
